Course Description:
A broad experience in the
operating room where the students will be taught general ad regional anesthetic
techniques under supervision with emphasis on pre-anesthetic evaluation,
intraoperative management, post anesthesia recovery and respiratory care. Students will also have the opportunity to
rotate through critical care, OB-anesthesia and pain management.
Goals:
This program is designed to
provide experience in clinical anesthesiology and to attain experience in the
technical aspects of the specialty. The
hands-on experience will enhance the understanding of the basics of the
specialty.
Method of Evaluation:
Attendance at morning conference and observation of
performance.

Course Description:
Participation in research
activities through the use of experimental animals.
Goals:
This elective is intended to
provide first-hand experience in basic surgical and anesthetic techniques, as
well as exposure to anesthesiology research methodology to familiarize the
student with a wide variety of patient monitoring devices and their proper
application.
Method of Evaluation:
Attendance at student conferences
and Department of Anesthesiology didactic program; and observation of
participation in the research activities.
